Two weeks ago I finally had a chance to do an oil change on the old YZF. I've put on about 3000 miles on it since I bought it so it was time. I used Shell's Rotella T 5W-40 Synthetic and a Bosch oil filter. My new NGK CR9E sparkplugs arrived Friday so I took that opportunity to do some much needed maintenance. - I changed the valve cover gasket since it was cracking and leaking.
- Removing the valve cover requires that you move the radiator out of the way. Since I was at it, I drained the coolant which turned out to be straight water tinted red by corrosion. I replaced it with distilled water and Redline water wetter. I also replaced the radiator cap as mine was in bad shape
- I adjusted the throttle cables and lubed them
- Cleaned and lubed the chain
All in all the bike is much happier now. Next week I'll adjust the suspension since the zip tie says I'm using up all the available fork travel!

Sounds like its runnin good. I use Rotella T Syn and its been great. I use the Purolator 3 1/2 in oil filter though. Havent changed the spark plugs yet as they might have been changed with the new coolant before i bought the bike.

I bought the long filter and noticed it's the same filter I would use on my Integra! Unfortunately it won't fit my bike since it has the Vance & Hines 4-1 header. Shorties only for me
