Is the 19mm Radial Nissin MC from an R1/R6?

Bill! The YZF600r monoblocks will not bolt up to the pre97 YZF600 forks. The bleed screw location on the YZF600r (and 97 YZF1000) monoblocks interfears with the caliper mount lugs on the pre97 YZF600 forks (both types). The early R1/R6 calipers are the hot ticket, and if you can find them the YZF750 6 pot calipers work too. The 6 pots look good, but do not work as well as the monoblocks. The radial MC I am using is from an 05 GSXR600. I think they are the same as the R1/R6 MC except for the lever. Mine came from ebay and was about $80 to my door. R.W. Jon

I installed a 1998 YZF600R rear shock on my 1995 tonight. It was a direct replacement although the remote reservoir line was quite long.

I had the same problem. On my bike I looped the hose around, zip tying it first to the right side of the subframe and then to the left (where I mounted the reservoir).just make sure that it clears all moving parts and it will work fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have my reservoir mounted under the left side bodywork which isn't the most accessable spot.
What do you have the shock set to?

Mine has full race tech internals and spring (at 275lbs I'm a bad example...)
spring is a race tech 9.5 set at the 4th ramp position. (try for 1/3 of overall rear wheel travel as sag #)
With rece tech goldvalve installed and calibrated for my wieght, compression is at 3 (out of possible 6) and rebound is at 11 (out of possible 20)
when riding very aggressively I will add 2 ramp positions of preload (sag appx 1/4 wheel travel)
I will also change the rebound to 9 clicks from seat to compensate for the tighter spring. this gives an overly harsh rides at 'legal' speeds but works well for 'track' speeds.
as a side note I set the sag on my forks at 1/3 travel also for day to day stuff (emulaters, 1.0 springs, 17.5 wt oil) and increase to 1/4 for the fun stuff.(appx 3 'lines' on the adjuster)
not sure on the actual numbers on the sag as I am at school and Jon will kill me If I give out more mis-information.... but this is the most critical part of the set-up process.
